The Many Health Benefits of Grape Seeds

Grape seed extract is derived from the small seeds of red grapes. In the ones given the extract the average systolic pressure drop was 12 millimeters and the average for diastolic pressure was 8 millimeters. The study also reduced the LDL cholesterol levels in individuals taking grape seeds.
Besides being a benefit for high blood pressure and cholesterol, they are a highly effective antioxidant. Antioxidants offers protection against early aging, cardiovascular problems, strokes and cancers.

Leukemia Suicide
 
The University of Kentucky published a report in the Clinical Cancer Research, stating that the leukemia cells were rapidly killed by grape seed extract. The cells actually committed suicide when exposed to the extract.

Grape seed extract advanced the acceleration of apoptosis (cell suicide) against cancer cells, thus enabling the larger organism (the body) to survive. These studies were done in a laboratory and not on human beings so this is something that conclusions cannot be said one hundred percents.

Colon Cancer
 
Dr. Mercola also says, that grape seed have been shown to inhibit the growth of cancers in colon cancer. After being exposed to colon cancer cells for two days, the cells were reduced by 92 percent. In studies with rats, the cells were reduced by 44 percent and in effect freezing the cells for future annihilation. Grape seeds are an insurance policy in a capsule and have been shown over and over to be one of the best antioxidants available.

Alzheimer's Disease
 
Another interesting study was on the aiding of Alzheimer's patients. It has been shown that grape seeds reduce degeneration of the brain. When mice were fed grape seeds they had better cognitive reactions then those not fed grape seeds.

Dosage Information
 
Take only grape seed extract that is standardized to contain 92% or more PCO's.
Generally take 2 capsules at any time of the day of the dried seeds.
Cancer prevention patients should take 100mg of the extract each morning.
Smokers should take 100mg of the extract each morning.
For most ailments including cancer take 100mg three times a day.
You must be consistent with the administering of the grape seeds. Take this as a daily routine. Only 30 percent of the PCO's (Oligomeric Proanthyocyanidins - a bioflavonoid that performs as a free radical scavenger) stay in your body and the rest leaves through the urine.

How to Prepare Them
 
When you get your dried, whole grape seeds, place them in a coffee grinder and grind. It is just that simple and then place them in vegetarian capsules. Take 2 capsules everyday and the time of day does not matter. For extra enrichment, mix the ground grape seed with some dried olive leaf and place the mixture in capsules.
