Easter and Muslims

Easter is celebrated by Catholic Christians to commemorate the crucifixion of the prophet Jesus (as). It is the belief of the Christians, that following the crucifixion, he was given a new life in the form of God. This is why during Easter we see eggs that are symbolic of new life and resurrection. The rabbit is a sign of fertility and new life.
The Holy Quran tells us the reality of this incorrect belief;
“And for their saying, 'We have certainly killed the Masih Eisa (Jesus) the son of Maryam, the Messenger of Allah.' And they did not kill him, and they did not crucify him, but they were deluded by resemblance. And those who disputed in this matter are certainly in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it, but they follow conjecture. And it is certain that they did not kill him (Jesus), but Allah lifted him towards Himself. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise” (Holy Quran 4:157-158)
Almighty Allah has blessed us with a pure and divine religion: al-Islam. By implementing this complete deen (religion) in all walks of one’s life, one will achieve the success of this temporary abode as well as the everlasting life of the hereafter. Almighty Allah says:
“Whoever follows my guidance shall neither go astray nor fall into distress and misery” (Holy Quran 20:123)
This same guidance of Allah is defined as “Siratal Mustaqeem” (the straight path). On the other side of the token, Almighty Allah explains the condition of those who disbelieve and reject the pure truth stating:
“As for those who disbelieve, their deeds are like a mirage in a desert. The thirsty one thinks it to be water, until he comes up to it, he finds it to be nothing, but he finds Allah with him, Who will pay him his due (Hell). And Allah is swift in taking account” (Holy Quran 24:39)
One of the things the holy prophet (pbuh) foretold us about can be clearly depicted in the following hadith:
“You will imitate the ways of the people before you, inch by inch, cubit by cubit, till such an extent that if they had entered the burrow of a lizard you will also enter it. We (the companions) asked, Oh prophet of Allah (pbuh), are you talking about the Jews and Christians? The Prophet (pbuh) replied “who else?” (Bukhari)
Let us hold firm onto the truth and abstain from being engulfed in incorrect beliefs, especially at these occasions. We ask Almighty Allah to save us from being deviated from the “Siratal Mustaqeem” (the straight path). Aameen!
